SUPER 8 wins gold and silver at Meininger’s Craft Beer Award
This week, our SUPER 8 Blanche and IPA were rewarded at the International Meininger’s Craft Beer Award. The Haacht Brewery beers won gold and silver respectively in the categories ‘Witbier Belgian Style’ and ‘IPA English Style’.
The Meininger’s Craft Beer Award is a prestigious international beer competition that is becoming increasingly important every year. This 6th annual edition saw a record 1,200 beers from all over the world compete for the platinum, gold, silver and bronze awards in an impressive 72 categories. During the awards ceremony in Neustadt, Germany, SUPER 8 Blanche, a naturally cloudy white beer with a creamy foam layer and a refreshing aftertaste, won gold in the category ‘Witbier Belgian Style’. SUPER 8 IPA won silver in the category ‘IPA English Style’.
Boudewijn van der Kelen, the marketing director at Haacht Brewery, tells us more: “A few years ago, we decided to launch the SUPER 8 range, a selection of beers in a familiar style but with a quirky twist. We hardly dared to dream they would become so incredibly successful, even among connoisseurs. It’s especially wonderful that both our SUPER 8 Blanche and SUPER 8 IPA won awards, which proves the entire SUPER 8 family is very much appreciated.”
Showered with prizes
The gold and silver Meininger’s Craft Beer Awards for our SUPER 8 Blanche and SUPER 8 IPA are yet another accolade for the young, popular SUPER 8 range. At the 2017 Brussels Beer Challenge 2017, SUPER 8 IPA won silver in the category ‘Pale & Amber Ale: English IPA’ and in 2018, SUPER 8 Saison won silver in the international category ‘Flavoured Beer, Herb & Spice’. What is more, SUPER 8 was a winner twice in a row at the World Beer Awards: in 2017 SUPER 8 Blanche was voted best ‘Belgian Style Witbier’ in Belgium and in 2018 SUPER 8 Export and SUPER 8 Saison won medals as well.
Last year, other Haacht Brewery beers also won prizes. At the Beer & Whisky Fair in Sweden, Tongerlo NOX won the gold medal in the category ‘Ale 5.1 - 7%’. And at the World Beer Awards, Mystic Cherry was voted the best fruit beer in the world.
