SUPER 8 Saison by Haacht Brewery wins silver at the Brussels Beer Challenge
At the Brussels Beer Challenge, one of the most important international beer competitions, SUPER 8 Saison won silver in the international category ‘Flavoured Beer, Herb & Spice’.
Haacht Brewery launched this dark blonde, naturally cloudy harvest beer a year ago. It is brewed using no less than five grains - rye, malt, oats, wheat and spelt - and has an alcohol percentage of 4.8%, combining the sensation of a specialty beer with a relatively low alcohol content.
This is the second prestigious award for the recently launched SUPER 8 SAISON and the fifth award for the entire SUPER 8 range in just a year. At last year’s Brussels Beer Challenge, SUPER 8 IPA was proclaimed the best ‘Pale & Amber Ale: English IPA’. SUPER 8 also did really well at the World Beer Awards: in 2017, SUPER 8 Blanche was crowned best ‘Belgian Style Witbier’ in Belgium and in 2018 SUPER 8 Export and SUPER 8 Saison also won medals.
Boudewijn van der Kelen, the marketing director at Haacht Brewery, says: “A few years ago, we decided to launch a selection of beers in a familiar style but with a quirky twist. We hardly dared to dream they would become so incredibly successful, even among connoisseurs. It’s especially wonderful that that SUPER 8 Saison has won a second award just as we are launching SUPER 8 Flandrien. I am convinced that this fifth member of the SUPER 8 family will do us proud.”
