Innovative lemonade recipes for optimal taste with less sugar

New in our range: VAL Lemon Light

Modern branding in 25 cl, 50 cl and 1 l bottles

Haacht Brewery has revamped its entire VAL waters and soft drinks range. The Belgian brewery, a family business, now produces its VAL soft drinks using new, innovative recipes. The result? An even better taste with less sugar. The entire range has also been given a completely new look and feel, and a new soft drink has joined the range: VAL Lemon Light, a low-sugar and low-calorie thirst quencher.

Less sugar, more flavour

With this new look and feel, Haacht Brewery aims to meet the high expectations of modern consumers in terms of flavour and health. When developing the new lemonade recipes, the focus was on lowering the calorie and sugar contents, and replacing traditional sugar with stevia, which is much healthier. What is more, the flavour has been considerably improved. Every single one of the lemonades is still entirely allergen-free and suitable for vegans, which is explicitly stated on the labels.

To respond even better to the demand for healthy and refreshing beverages, Haacht Brewery has also developed VAL Lemon Light. This new low-sugar and low-calorie lemonade does not contain any added colourings, making it the ideal healthy thirst quencher.

Boudewijn van der Kelen, the marketing director at Haacht Brewery, explains: “We have made leaps and bounds in terms of both flavour and health, and that is all down to our fantastic team, particularly our R&D department. It once again proves how committed we are to innovation, and how quickly we can move ahead with new ideas. I am proud that our catering operators and their guests can now enjoy an even wider and higher-quality range of non-alcoholic drinks, along with our updated Star Light.”

A brand new look

Besides better flavour, the VAL range also boasts a crisp new look. “We are very proud of the highly local character and natural properties of VAL, and that is precisely what we want our labels to focus on”, van der Kelen continues. “Our water has been recognised as natural mineral water since 1989. It goes through a natural purifying process and we bottle it directly at the source, here at our brewery. We don’t use any chemical or microbiological treatments. In a nutshell, our VAL waters and lemonades are local natural products made at an authentic family brewery in a short, local production chain.”

In order to meet the changing needs of the catering sector, Haacht Brewery has also reviewed and harmonised the contents of its bottles. VAL waters are now available in 25 cl and 50 cl bottles - all stored in a specially designed crate - as well as 1 l bottles. The VAL lemonades are available in 25 cl bottles, and three of them (Orange, Lime and Ice Tea) also in 1 l bottles. Moreover, all the bottles have been optimised for the technical production process. They are now more stable and almost scuff-proof, so they suffer less from the typical white rings that appear during the bottling process.
