On 6 September, Haacht Brewery signed the Green Deal, in which all participating companies will aim to use water in a more sustainable way during the beer brewing process. By doing so, we have committed ourselves to reducing the amount of water we use per hectolitre beer that we brew.

Joke Schauvliege (CD&V), Flemish minister for Environment, Nature and Culture, signed the deal on behalf of the Flemish government, together with industry organisations and initiators Belgian Brewers and Fevia Vlaanderen. In total, nine breweries have committed to the Green Deal.

Boudewijn van der Kelen, marketing director at Haacht Brewery: “As a truly Belgian brewery, the environment in our country is of great concern to us. And water plays a crucial role, not only in the environment, but also in the brewing process. We are very proud to be able to support this project.”

Various Flemish media have published articles about the Green Deal, including Het Laatste Nieuws, Het Nieuwsblad and Made in Oost-Vlaanderen.
