Haacht Brewery further invests in its sustainable water treatment process
Water is an essential resource for our brewery: we use it not only for brewing our drinks, but also for various operational tasks such as cleaning our brewing kettles, bottles and trucks. From a sustainability point of view, it is important to be conscious of water, its quality and consumption. Our water treatment installation was therefore recently given a major upgrade, thanks to our collaboration with Pantarein.
Here are some key improvements:
We replaced our old aerators with a system that blows fine bubbles through the water. This creates healthier sludge and better conditions for the bacteria that break down waste products in the water. As a result, this breakdown happens more efficiently, while we use less energy.
Excess sludge is thickened and transported. Automating this ensures better process control. The disposed sludge is then digested and used as raw material to generate green bioenergy.
We revamped our hardware and software components for reliable and sustainable control of the treatment installation. This allows us to measure, evaluate and adjust every part of the process. More efficient dosing of chemicals also ensures greater safety for our operators, and better protection of the environment.
Together, we continue to invest in a greener future and a smaller ecological impact of our brewery on the environment.
