FLANDRIEN 0.0 goes for gold at World Alcohol-Free Awards
Boortmeerbeek, 29 April 2026 – Haacht Brewery has once again been honoured at the prestigious World Alcohol-Free Awards (WAFA), the only international competition for drinks with an alcohol content of 0.5% or less. FLANDRIEN 0.0 has snatched the gold medal, as the only beer with 0.0% alcohol content.

A gold-winning FLANDRIEN: “Rich flavour with a complex, malty nose”
The undisputed star of the 0.0% beer category was FLANDRIEN 0.0. The international expert jury praised the complexity of this alcohol-free speciality beer, describing it as a “rich, copper-coloured beer with a complex, malty nose in which hints of citrus and bubblegum can be detected”.
The jury also highlighted the beer’s gastronomic potential: *“The balance between the sweetness on the palate, a hint of citrus and the bitter finish makes this beer ideal for food pairing. It is a perfect accompaniment to hearty fare, from a classic roast to a Shepherd’s Pie.” *
Confirmation of craftsmanship
For Brouwerij Haacht, this award is a significant recognition. “Winning gold in an independent, global competition such as the WAFA proves the quality of our 0.0 beers and their rich flavour profile and character,” says Brouwerij Haacht. "FLANDRIEN 0.0 demonstrates that a truly alcohol-free beer can be just as complex and gastronomic as its alcoholic counterpart," explains Séverine Distave, Chief Marketing Growth Officer.
