Primus receives title of best pilsner in the world

With four medals, Haacht Brewery scores in all popular beer categories at the International Beer Challenge. The prestigious competition in London has, for more than twenty years, been ranked as one of the world’s most renowned beer competitions. The medals are a fine recognition of Haacht Brewery, which offers a diversified range of high quality products, coupled with a progressive service.

The competition awards and promotes the world’s best beers. This year, breweries from 40 countries tried their luck in more than 80 categories. And once again, Haacht Brewery’s products were among the prize winners. For the first time, Primus won the gold medal in the Lager - Pilsner category, a fine acknowledgement of the brewery’s classic. And things didn’t end there: in addition to this gold medal, Haacht Brewery also won prizes in other categories. In the Ale – Belgian Continental Style Blonds category, Haacht Brewry even came away with two prizes: a silver medal for Tongerlo Blond and a bronze for SUPER 8 Flandrien. And finally, SUPER 8 IPA won silver in the category Ale – Belgian Style IPA.

Primus on the stage

With the gold medal as the best pilsner in the world, it is clear that Primus appeals to both beer experts and the general public. The success of Primus was explained by Baudouin van der Kelen, CEO of Haacht Brewery: _“The golden medal shows that our classic pilsner beer is of the highest quality and that our professional expertise is recognised throughout the world. The competition in this category is extremely strong, so we are very proud of this golden medal. After a difficult period, this is a fantastic recognition of the efforts of our employees, their focus on quality and innovation.” _

Varied range of highest quality

The characterful SUPER 8 Flandrien and the spicy SUPER 8 IPA have gained many awards in recent years. Although the SUPER 8 beers have only been around for five years, beers in this series have already won 18 awards from various authoritative bodies. “The silver medals prove that with these beers - indeed, with the whole SUPER 8 family - we have succeeded in innovating. It gives us even more motivation to continue to build on the success of this series,” adds Baudouin van der Kelen.
